Baseball Recap: Yuma Catholic Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Yuma Catholic never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Parker Broncs with a sharp 9-0 victory. The Shamrocks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Hiram Silva, who gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Parker off the board. Silva has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ivan Guzman, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Jose Alatorre was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI.

The win was the eighth in a row for Yuma Catholic, bringing their record up to 19-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Parker, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Yuma Catholic will take on rival Odyssey Institute at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Parker is set to challenge their familiar foe Chino Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
