The Del Norte Tigers won against the Trinidad Miners last Saturday with 53 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Del Norte simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Miners 53-23 on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Del Norte has managed all season.
Del Norte was led to victory by Craig Williams and Kelby Mondragon. Williams scored eight points along with eight rebounds, while Mondragon scored 13 points along with three steals. Mondragon hasn't dropped below three steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Jace Pacheco, who scored five points along with two steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Del Norte and bumps their season record up to 5-8. As for Trinidad, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-13.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Del Norte will take on the Farmers at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sargent is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season. As for Trinidad, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Sanford knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully the Miners like a good challenge.
