Durango is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Palisade is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Demons will host the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Durango barely beat Montrose the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Demons were the clear victors by a 19-9 margin over the Red Hawks on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Palisade got the win against Rifle on Saturday by a conclusive 10-1.
Jacob Porras looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hunter Howard, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Dylon Larson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Palisade was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rifle only posted a batting average of .200.
Durango's victory bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Palisade, their win bumped their record up to 19-2.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Durango has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .490. However, it's not like Palisade struggles in that department as they've averaged .460. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Durango might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Palisade in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Will the Demons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
