Softball Recap: Natchitoches Central Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

Natchitoches Central won against Evangel Christian Academy last Tuesday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Natchitoches Central beat the Byrd Yellow Jackets by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-3. The Chiefs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Sydney Terrell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Terrell was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Natchitoches Central let Maggie Massia and Morgan Robinson run wild. Massia scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Robinson got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits Massia has posted over her last nine matchups. Another player making a difference was Ehren Guidroz, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Natchitoches Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-14 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. Byrd is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Natchitoches Central will square off against Grant at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Natchitoches Central's pitchers better be ready for this one: Grant has averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Byrd, they will face off against Benton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
