Softball Recap: St. Mary's Academy Find Success

While St. Mary's Academy's win against Livingston Collegiate Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-13 victory over the Wolves on Monday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

St. Mary's Academy got a massive performance out of Samia Siddiq, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Siddiq is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Essynce Hayes, who scored two runs and stole six bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

St. Mary's Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .533 or higher in nine consecutive contests.

St. Mary's Academy's victory bumped their record up to 9-7-1. As for Livingston Collegiate Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Mary's Academy will head out to square off against Salmen at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Livingston Collegiate Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge New Orleans Charter Science & Math at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
