Last Friday, Wellsville-Middletown took a serious blow against Montgomery County, falling 68-41. While losing is never fun, Wellsville-Middletown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Montgomery County is ranked ninth).
Green City has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 20 points or more this season. They breezed by Kauffman on the road to the tune of 53-26.
Green City found their leader in underclassman Jaryn Hatcher, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Hatcher has scored at least 25% of Green City's points. Another player making a difference was Britney Jeffries, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Wellsville-Middletown now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Green City, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
