Branham has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Leigh Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Branham has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 402 points over their last six contests.
Last Friday, Branham strolled past Oak Grove with points to spare, taking the game 60-46. Given Branham's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while Oak Grove is ranked 605th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, even though Evergreen Valley scored an imposing 64 points on Friday, Leigh still came out on top. Leigh walked away with a 72-64 victory over Evergreen Valley. The victory was nothing new for Leigh as they're now sitting on three straight.
Leigh's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caleb Asante, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Asante has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Smith, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Branham pushed their record up to 16-1 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Leigh, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Branham won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, slipping by Leigh 70-69. Will Branham repeat their success, or does Leigh have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
