Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, a fact the Wilton Warriors proved on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 70-51 victory over St. Joseph. The win made it back-to-back wins for Wilton.
Wilton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Henry Roy, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Roy hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Anderson Campbell, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
St. Joseph lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tj Wright, who scored 23 points. That was a full 45.1% of St. Joseph's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Sean Christy was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Wilton's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. As for St. Joseph, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wilton will take on Westhill at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Wilton is facing Westhill at the right time seeing as Westhill is stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for St. Joseph, they will head out on the road to challenge McMahon at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully St. Joseph focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
