Dearborn extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 5-15-1. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cabrini Monarchs. If the Pioneers were looking for revenge after losing 25-21 to the Monarchs when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Sophia Ball was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Victoria Lamb, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
As for Cabrini, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.
On Cabrini's side, Catherine Schumm made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Schumm was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Raquel Zamarron was excellent, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2025. Elena DelCotto was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Dearborn will be playing at home against Crestwood at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 20.27 runs per game on average), something the Pioneers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cabrini, they are taking a road trip to take on Jefferson at 4:30 p.m. on the 15th.
