The Estancia Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Santa Ana Valley Falcons at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Estancia has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 28.
Estancia blew Corona del Mar out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Corona del Mar got their revenge. The Eagles fell just short of the Sea Kings by a score of 5-3.

Jaydin McClure

Jaydin McClure was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). McClure was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
McClure wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Santa Ana Valley hadn't done well against La Quinta recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Aztecs. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by nine runs or more this season.
Like Estancia, Santa Ana Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Espy Guerrero. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. That's the most strikeouts Guerrero has posted since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Karla Oliva was a standout: she scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kathy Lopez, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Santa Ana Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as La Quinta only posted an OBP of .462.
Santa Ana Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Estancia, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Estancia has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Santa Ana Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Estancia might still be hurting after the 12-3 loss they got from Santa Ana Valley in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
