Paul VI had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bishop Ireton Cardinals a 6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Matthew Roussey's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, Ryan Bahr was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Thomas Jewett was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Paul VI's record is now 18-4. As for Bishop Ireton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-18-1.

Coming up, Paul VI will welcome Archbishop Spalding at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bishop Ireton, they will square off against Proctor at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
