After a string of five wins, New Town's's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They suffered a rough 48-28 defeat at the hands of Mercy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points New Town has scored all season.
New Town lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Chayse Thompson, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nialah Mingo, who scored six points.
New Town's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Mercy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Town will square off against Carver A&T at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Carver A&T focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six last Wednesday. Mercy and St. Mary's will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in St. Mary's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
