The Seagoville Dragons waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They strolled past Spruce with points to spare, taking the game 58-39. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Seagoville also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Seagoville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amia West, who scored 17 points. It was the first time this season that West scored 15 or more points. Jai White was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
When it comes to explaining why Spruce lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tionnie Williams. Despite the final result, she scored 24 points. It was the first time this season that Williams scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taniah Williams, who scored nine points.
Seagoville is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 16-11 record this season. As for Spruce, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9.
Seagoville will head out on the road to square off against the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Poteet knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully the Dragons likes a good challenge. As for Spruce, they will be playing at home against the Spartans at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Samuell has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 28.
