Beamer extended their losing streak to seven on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-8. They lost 24-1 to the Kentlake Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 34-13 on Thursday.
Beamer saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nellie Jokinen, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
As for Kentlake, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won 12 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
On Kentlake's side, Ashlyn Trujillo was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Trujillo has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Kentlake let Riley Linnane and Hi'Ilei Gomes run wild. Linnane fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4, while Gomes got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. Those two home runs gave Linnane a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aryln Soto-Aranda, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Beamer will take on rival Decatur at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Kentlake is set to square off against their familiar foe Auburn Mountainview at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
