La Porte is 8-2 against Portage since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Slicers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Indians at 4:30 p.m. La Porte will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
On Saturday, La Porte made easy work of Lowell and carried off a 12-1 win.
La Porte got a great performance from Logan Hay as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Hay has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Chad Rusboldt was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of La Porte's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 9-13 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Raymond, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.
La Porte was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Portage made sure to put some runs up on the board against Illiana Christian on Thursday. The Indians narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Vikings 10-9. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Indians as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Hunter Cole made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last six games. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Devon Ortiz, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Kodie Young was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Portage's victory bumped their record up to 10-11-2. As for La Porte, their win bumped their record up to 11-14.
La Porte beat Portage 4-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Slicers repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
