The Eagle Valley Devils came into Monday's matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They claimed a resounding 66-30 win over Battle Mountain at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-11.
Zakia Shreeve had an outrageously good game as she scored 15 points along with five steals. Addison Mandeville was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Despite the defeat, Battle Mountain saw an underclassman step up: Kate Kovacik scored nine points along with three steals.
Eagle Valley's win bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Battle Mountain, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Eagle Valley will head out on the road to challenge Glenwood Springs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Eagle Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Battle Mountain, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Summit at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Summit focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Saturday.
