The Princeton Tigers will be playing at home against the Bureau Valley Storm at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Princeton will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Last Thursday, Princeton strolled past Hall with points to spare, taking the game 57-40. Given Princeton's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Hall is ranked 378th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Princeton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Miyah Marie fox led the charge by scoring 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. The matchup was Marie fox's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Driscoll, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bureau Valley didn't have too much trouble with West Carroll on the road on Saturday as they won 54-39.
Bureau Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kate Salisbury out in front who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Salisbury is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now stole two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lynzie Cady, who scored 12 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 steals.
Their wins bumped Princeton to 7-0 and Hall to 2-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Princeton have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 35.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Bureau Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.2 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Everything came up roses for Princeton against Bureau Valley when the teams last played back in February as the team secured a 57-26 win. Does Princeton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bureau Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
