The Frankfort Redbirds and the DuQuoin Indians will face off at 7:45 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Frankfort had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 63-51 win over Sesser-Valier on Saturday. The win was just what Frankfort needed coming off of a 72-46 defeat in their prior match.
Meanwhile, even though Chester scored an imposing 63 points on Saturday, DuQuoin still came out on top. DuQuoin came out on top in a nail-biter against the Yellowjackets and snuck past 66-63. The win was just what DuQuoin needed coming off of a 56-36 loss in their prior contest.
DuQuoin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dwayne Wilmington led the charge by scoring 14 points. Another player making a difference was Eli Maynor, who scored 14 points.
Frankfort's record now sits at 10-15. As for DuQuoin, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 8-16.
Frankfort came up short against the Indians in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 48-36. Can Frankfort avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
