The Hunter Wolverines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Weber by a score of 58-56. Hunter has not had much luck with Weber recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kalysa Ng, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Ng scored a full 30.4% of Hunter's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Naia Makakona, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Weber's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Katelyn Poulsen led the charge by scoring ten points along with six assists. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for her. Avery Shupe was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Hunter bumped their record down to 5-8 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Weber, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hunter will take on Taylorsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Taylorsville is ranked 71st, while Hunter is ranked 89th). As for Weber, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Farmington at 5:15 p.m. on January 12th.
