Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Walton-Verona). They were the clear victors by  a  10-0 margin over the Villa Madonna Vikings on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bearcats considering their one-run performance the  matchup before.
 Demi Lavon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run and  allowed only two  hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks any time she's  pitched this season. She was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-3 with three  RBI and one  double.
 In other batting news, Walton-Verona got a  massive  performance out of  Eliza Alford, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those  hits were  Alford's first of the season. Another player making a difference was  Ava Donato, who  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 2-for-2.
 Walton-Verona was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a  batting average of .323 or higher in three consecutive  contests.
Walton-Verona's first  win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Villa Madonna, they now  have a losing record of 1-2.
 Coming up,  a feisty cat fight will be fought as Walton-Verona Bearcats  face off against  Cooper Jaguars at 5:30  p.m.  on Monday. Cooper has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.67  runs per game on average), something Walton-Verona will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Villa Madonna, they will challenge St. Henry at 5:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. This will  be Villa Madonna's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
