Monticello extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-5. They came up short against the Warwick Wildcats, falling 12-1. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 23-0 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Monticello saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Taggart, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
As for Warwick, they now have a winning record of 4-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by six runs or more this season.
On Warwick's side, Abi Walsh and Amanda Larsen made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Walsh pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Larsen tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Walsh has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Walsh went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Larsen went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave Larsen a new career-high.
In other batting news, Warwick got a big performance out of Emily Guilick, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was Guilick's first of the season. Lorenza Brennie was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Monticello has already played their next matchup, a 12-3 victory against Liberty on the 18th. As for Warwick, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-2 defeat against Kingston on the 17th.
