The Mt. Zion Bulldogs lost to the Lovett Lions back in January, but the Mt. Zion Bulldogs didn't allow the Lovett Lions the same satisfaction on Friday. Mt. Zion was the clear victor by a 42-16 margin over Lovett.
Mt. Zion's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tayjianna Smith led the charge by scoring 18 points along with 6 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least 25% of Mt. Zion's points. Another player making a difference was Makayla Juhan, who scored 18 points along with 8 rebounds.
Mt. Zion now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Lovett, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Zion's road trip will continue as they head out to face Morrow at 3:00 p.m. on December 2nd. Morrow will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Lovett, they will head out on the road to face off against Creekside Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Creekside Christian Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lovett in Georgia (Creekside Christian Academy is ranked 116th, while Lovett is ranked 432nd).
