Pasco is 1-9 against the Falcons since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Pasco Pirates are on the road again and plays the Fivay Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Wednesday, things could have been worse for Pasco, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 67-53 loss to the Marauders.
Pasco might have lost, but man, Sidney Allen was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zion DeJesus, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Fivay's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. The match between them and East Lake wasn't particularly close, with Fivay falling 60-45. While losing is never fun, Fivay can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 383rd, while the Eagles are ranked 133rd).
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Antwan Brown and Anthony Brown. Brown had a great game and dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 rebounds. Meanwhile, Brown did his best for the losing side, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds.
Fivay struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Pasco has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season. As for Fivay, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-11.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Pasco haven't given up the ball easily this season, having only averaged 1 turnovers per game. However, it's not like Fivay struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 10 turnovers per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Pasco was taken down by the Falcons 60-28 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Pasco was down 32-10.
