Mason Atkins Delivers Best Effort of Season
Mason Atkins produced his most outstanding game to date while leading West Aurora to the win on Friday. Atkins threw for 233 yards and five touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 66 yards and two touchdowns, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards.
The win for West Aurora keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. It'll be Eastside v. Westside when their and Aurora East meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

West Aurora Wins Seventh-Straight Thanks to Azuriah Sylvester
West Aurora picked up their seventh consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Azuriah Sylvester. Nobody could stop Sylvester as he made a tackle. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 50 yards.

Robert Capuzi Crosses Big Stat Threshold
While Elgin might've come up empty on Friday, Robert Capuzi wasn't going down without a fight. Capuzi was excellent, picking up a sack and making ten total tackles (2.0 for loss). Thanks to that strong showing, he's now averaging 5.2 total tackles per game.
Elgin dropped their record down to 2-5 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Capuzi and Elgin will challenge South Elgin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

The second Elgin player making an appearance here is Andres Marquez, and for good reason. He made nine total tackles (2.0 for loss). Thanks to that strong showing, he's now averaging 5.3 total tackles per game.
For the year, Marquez has averaged 5.3 total tackles per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after six games last season, he was only averaging 3.17 total tackles per game.
