Basketball Recap: East Chapel Hill Skates Past Cedar Ridge with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Chapel Hill). They really took it to the Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves for the full four quarters, racking up a 79-32 victory. With the Wildcats ahead 55-21 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

East Chapel Hill got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bennett Corley out in front who went 9 for 13 on his way to 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Samuel Smith, who posted eight points in addition to 15 boards and seven assists.

East Chapel Hill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matchups.

Cedar Ridge's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Braeden Wilbourn, who had 13 points, and Ibrahim Tambajang, who put up two points.

East Chapel Hill moved to 2-8 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for Cedar Ridge, they dropped their record down to 5-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

East Chapel Hill will welcome Western Alamance at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. East Chapel Hill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season. As for Cedar Ridge, they are on the road again on Monday to play Carrboro at 11:00 a.m. Cedar Ridge is facing Carrboro at the right time seeing as Carrboro is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
