It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Halifax Academy ultimately got the result it was hoping for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Southampton Academy 50-48. The score was all tied up at the break, but Halifax Academy was the better team in the second half.
Senior Harrison Hardee, who picked up 122 yards on the ground and snatched 4 receiving TDs, was a major factor in the success. In fact, with 10 tackles Hardee was a force on both sides of the ball. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse senior Cameron Podruchny, who racked up 14 tackles.
The victory bumped Halifax Academy's record up to 2-0. The loss dropped Southampton Academy back to even at 1-1.
Halifax Academy are packing up and heading on the road for the first time this season. They face off against Lawrence Academy next week at 7:00 PM. As for Southampton Academy, they will face off against Brunswick Academy.
