The Kaplan Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 72-28 loss at the hands of Sam Houston. Kaplan was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-13.
Sam Houston was led to victory by Blaine Davey and Broc Vines. Davey scored 16 points, while Vines scored 13 points along with six rebounds. Vines also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Dylan Edwards, who scored seven points.
Kaplan's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Sam Houston, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
Kaplan will head out on the road to face off against Delcambre at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Delcambre is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Sam Houston will be home for the holidays to greet East Chambers at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. East Chambers will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 577th in Texas, while Sam Houston is ranked 141st in Louisiana).
