The Metro Tech Knights scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Sierra Linda 60-57. The win was some much needed relief for Metro Tech as it spelled an end to their nine-game losing streak.
Metro Tech's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Oswaldo Lopez Vargas, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Another player making a difference was Malachi Ivy, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Metro Tech's victory ended a 16-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-21. As for Sierra Linda, they dropped their record down to 1-21 with that loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Metro Tech will square off against the Stampede at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Sierra Linda, they will head out on the road to take on the Roughriders at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
