Basketball Recap: Antonio Bonami and Antwain Smith Secure Win for Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Plantation Colonels by a score of 63-55. The Flying L's have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Colonels, too.

Fort Lauderdale was led to victory by Antwain Smith and Antonio Bonami. Smith dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 boards, while Bonami went 8 of 15 on his way to 23 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rawle Farose, who posted six points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Fort Lauderdale's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Plantation, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Lauderdale will face off against Cooper City at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Plantation, they will take on South Plantation at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
