Forest extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 5-15. They came up short against the Raleigh Lions, falling 23-8. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-7 on Thursday.
Forest saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Quigley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Another was Joseph Greenhouse III, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
As for Raleigh, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Raleigh's side, Ollie Owens was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Owens has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-5 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Damonta Keyes was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Cody Moseley, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Forest will face off against Richland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rangers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.3 runs per game on average), something the Bearcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Raleigh, they will take on Seminary at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least ten runs in their last five contests.
