The Sabino Sabercats fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They strolled past Pueblo with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 65-51. That's another feather in the cap for Sabino, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Chris Herndon was the offensive standout of the match as he scored 12 points along with seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Andres Ruiz de Chavez, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Pueblo still got an impressive performance from Jorge Franco, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds. The matchup was Franco's third in a row with at least ten points. David Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Sabino's win bumped their record up to 2-11. As for Pueblo, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
Sabino will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Catalina at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Pueblo will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Kofa at 1:10 p.m. on December 28th.
