Two dominant backs in Ren Ukai and Will Larsen are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The California Lutheran C-Hawks will be playing at home against the Calvary Chapel Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
California Lutheran had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 42-14 victory over Hillcrest Christian.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead California Lutheran to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ukai, who rushed for 140 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton McGee, who rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
Meanwhile, Calvary Chapel made easy work of Blair on Saturday and carried off a 34-12 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Calvary Chapel.
Calvary Chapel's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Keith Jaeckels, who rushed for 116 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Josh Lennear was another key contributor, rushing for 73 yards and a touchdown.
Calvary Chapel's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Nick Trasvina and his 3.5 sacks.
California Lutheran has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Calvary Chapel, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as the two teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. California Lutheran commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.1 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Calvary Chapel struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
California Lutheran didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Calvary Chapel when the teams last played back in September, but they still walked away with a 28-22 win.
