The Santa Ynez Pirates pushed their score all the way to 60 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 70-60 to Garces Memorial. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Thursday (57), Santa Ynez still had to take the loss.
Santa Ynez's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hale Durbiano, who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jayden Mendoza, who scored 14 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Santa Ynez and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Garces Memorial, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Santa Ynez will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Nipomo at 5:30 p.m. on December 1st. Nipomo comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Garces Memorial, they will square off against Atascadero at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
