The Cedar Vale/Dexter Spartans had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They took down West Elk 50-36. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Cedar Vale/Dexter also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, West Elk still got an impressive performance from Maddex Moreno, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Moreno has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Garett Usry, who scored eight points.
Cedar Vale/Dexter has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for West Elk, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3.
Cedar Vale/Dexter on the road again on Tuesday and play against Caldwell at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Caldwell is ranked 238th, while Cedar Vale/Dexter is ranked 241st). As for West Elk, they will face off against Argonia at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
