The Pleasanton Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pleasanton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
On Friday, Pleasanton didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Loomis, but they still walked away with a 57-51 victory.
Pleasanton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Natalie Rasmussen out in front who scored 20 points. Rasmussen is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Tyra Sekutera was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Meanwhile, Sumner-Eddyville-Miller pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 58-57 to Overton. Sumner-Eddyville-Miller found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 28 to 6 on offense.
Sumner-Eddyville-Miller's loss came about despite a quality game from Mikah O'Neill, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. O'Neill hasn't dropped below 16 points for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Taryn Arbuthnot, who scored 13 points.
Pleasanton's win bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Pleasanton have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Sumner-Eddyville-Miller struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Pleasanton ended up a good deal behind Sumner-Eddyville-Miller in their previous meeting on Monday, losing 56-42. Can Pleasanton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
