The biggest upset of the week belonged to Temple, who took down 96th ranked Temple, 42-7.
Midway extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region I District 8 this week by beating Shoemaker, 40-20. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Panthers.
Belton's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Peter Shelburne threw for 194 and two touchdowns and Durham Smythe had 100 yards receiving. On the ground Brandon Rhoads chipped in 70 yards.
Belton's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Shelburne has thrown for 1672 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, while Derick Bates has 31 catches for 580 yards. Rhoads leads the league in rushing with 658 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Wildcats take on Copperas Cove. Temple is in third place, while the Bulldawgs are in fifth place.
Harker Heights moved up to 302 from 398 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region I District 8. The Knights climbed the ranks as a result of besting Mike Spradlin's team 42-7.
