Littlefield is 8-2 against the Chieftans since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Littlefield Wildcats will be playing at home against the Friona Chieftans at 6:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Littlefield has six straight victories, the Chieftans have four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Lamesa typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Littlefield proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 40-32 victory over the Tornadoes. Given Littlefield's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while the Tornadoes are ranked 528th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Friona was beaten by the Cubs 56-27 on Tuesday. Friona has not had much luck with the Cubs recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Littlefield is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Friona, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Littlefield against the Chieftans in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 74-43 win. Will Littlefield repeat their success, or do the Chieftans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
