St. Anthony hit Charleston with a four-run seventh inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Trojans fell 7-4 to the Bulldogs. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Charleston saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rohen Walters, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
North Clay/Clay City's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Charleston, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.
Charleston's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: North Clay/Clay City hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. It's a different story for Charleston, though, as they've only averaged .251. Will they be able to contain North Clay/Clay City's hitters?
North Clay/Clay City was able to grind out a solid win over Charleston in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Clay/Clay City since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
