Basketball Recap: Lehigh Skates Past Ida Baker with Ease

Lehigh entered their tilt with Ida Baker on Monday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 95-59 win over the Bulldogs. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lightning's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 582nd).

Lehigh's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Allan Rivera, who went 8-for-17 to rack up 23 points along with six assists and three steals. Rivera continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Timothy Thurman was another key player, dropping a double-double with 22 points and 13 boards.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Lehigh was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ida Baker only racked up nine.

Ida Baker lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Brendan Slack, who shot 46% from the field en route to 16 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ricky Fernandez, who went 7-for-17 on his way to 16 points.

Lehigh's record is now 16-1. As for Ida Baker, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.

Lehigh has already played their next matchup, a 77-61 victory against Mariner on the 14th. As for Ida Baker, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-47 loss against Fort Myers on the 15th.
