Softball Recap: Fairview Sets Scoring Season-High Against Holly Pond

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fairview). They were the clear victors by a 19-5 margin over the Holly Pond Broncos on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Aggies in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now won seven in a row.

Kylie Kovar and Emily Benson did most of the damage at the plate: Kovar got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI, while Benson went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Benson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Phillips, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Fairview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .758. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Fairview pushed their record up to 15-9 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Holly Pond, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Looking ahead, Fairview will look to defend their home field on Monday against Arab at 4:30 p.m. As for Holly Pond, they will head out to take on Cold Springs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
