The Water Canyon Wildcats struggled with assists on Friday (the Kanab Cowboys had 16 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Water Canyon was dealt a 75-43 loss at the hands of Kanab.
Water Canyon lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aaron Barlow, who scored 20 points along with two steals. Barlow continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dynonte Blackmore, who scored ten points.
Kanab found their leader in underclassman Kyle Brown, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Brown has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Cash Mortensen was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven assists.
Water Canyon has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Kanab, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Water Canyon will take on Enterprise at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Enterprise has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 400 points over their last six games. As for Kanab, they will be playing at home against Millard at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Millard is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
