The Minatare Indians suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were outmatched by Morrill on the road and fell 64-36. Minatare has not had much luck with Morrill recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite the loss, Minatare saw an underclassman step up: Hunter Poor Bear scored 17 points along with seven rebounds.
Morrill was led to victory by Pittman Ashwin and Wyler Fisher. Ashwin scored 18 points along with three steals and three blocks, while Fisher scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Fisher also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Green, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Minatare has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Morrill, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.
Minatare's road trip will continue as they head out to face Leyton at 6:30 p.m. on January 15th. Hopefully Leyton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Friday. As for Morrill, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Sioux County at 7:30 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: William Skavdahl and Ashwin.
