Chino Valley is 0-6 against River Valley since September of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Chino Valley Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the River Valley Dust Devils at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Chino Valley fell victim to Wickenburg's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 67-0 loss at the hands of the Wranglers. Having soared to a lofty 34 points in the game before, Chino Valley couldn't push the score so high this time.
Meanwhile, River Valley was beaten by Mohave 48-6 on Friday. While losing is never fun, River Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona football rankings (they are ranked 108th, while Mohave is ranked 29th).
Despite the defeat, River Valley got a solid performance out of Jayden Plotkin, who rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown.
Chino Valley has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for River Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3.
Chino Valley was dealt a bruising 55-6 loss at the hands of River Valley in their previous meeting back in September of 2022. Thankfully for Chino Valley, Gavin Hogencamp (who rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 223 yards and three touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time.
