The Dupo Tigers will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Valmeyer Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Dupo struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Monday (Gibault Catholic was 20% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. Dupo was beaten by Gibault Catholic 67-34. Dupo was down 63-31 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Dupo's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Addison Mitchell, who scored 11 points, and Keara Prater who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought match, but Valmeyer had to settle for a 40-37 loss against Steeleville on Thursday.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Ava Reeves, who scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brooke Miller, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and five blocks.
Dupo's loss dropped their record down to 5-18. As for Valmeyer, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Dupo have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Valmeyer struggles in that department as they've been averaging 37.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Dupo came up short against Valmeyer in their previous meeting back in January, falling 37-31. Will Dupo have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
