The Brookfield Bobcats had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.7 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 58-27 win over Joel Barlow. Considering Brookfield has won three matches by more than 24 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
It was another big night for Shane Weber, who scored 28 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The contest was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. Josh Merchant was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Brookfield's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Joel Barlow, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brookfield will square off against Bethel at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Bethel will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Brookfield is ranked 25th). As for Joel Barlow, they will head out on the road to face off against Kolbe-Cathedral at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Kolbe-Cathedral's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
