The Sparkman Senators are taking a road trip to square off against the Meade County Green Waves at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Sparkman was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Brewer on Tuesday. The Senators blew past the Patriots 15-1. The Senators have beaten the Patriots the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Patriots has come to flipping the script.
Kara Burman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Eden Parker was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Krimson Phillips also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Sparkman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brewer only posted an OBP of .095.
Meanwhile, Meade County faced Mercy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Green Waves put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 10-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Green Waves, who have now won five matches by eight runs or more so far this season.
Veronica Roberts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 12 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaelyn Ledford, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Ledford, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Sparkman's record now sits at 22-7-1. As for Meade County, their record is now 5-1.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sparkman has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. However, it's not like Meade County struggles in that department as they've averaged .444. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sparkman took their victory against Meade County in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Senators since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
