It was a good run, but the Stratton Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak dating back to last season on Saturday. They fell just short of Colby by a score of 53-50. Stratton lost against Colby in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 69-45 score last time.
Stratton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Von Isenbart, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Isenbart scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jose Gallardo, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Stratton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Colby, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stratton will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Briggsdale at 4:00 p.m. on January 6, 2024. Briggsdale will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 264th, while Stratton is ranked 36th). Colby is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Russell at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. Russell is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
