The Copper Basin Cougars will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Sale Creek Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Friday, Copper Basin took a serious blow against Carolina W, falling 58-26. While losing is never fun, Copper Basin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 322nd in Tennessee, while Carolina W is ranked 13th in South Carolina).
Meanwhile, after some red-hot offensive attacks in their last three matches, Sale Creek finally came back down to earth on Friday. They were outmatched by South Pittsburg on the road and fell 44-0. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.
The losses dropped Copper Basin to 3-5 and Sale Creek to 6-3.
Copper Basin took a serious blow against Sale Creek when the teams last played back in September of 2022, falling 42-8. Thankfully for Copper Basin, Nick Hall (who rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
