The Elk Lake Warriors will square off against the Holy Redeemer Royals at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Elk Lake sitting on nine straight victories and Holy Redeemer on three.
Elk Lake's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Blue Ridge 11-0. Considering the Warriors have won eight games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Braydon McMicken was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of John Heitsman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Holy Redeemer won against Wyoming Seminary College Prep on Tuesday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Royals walked away with a 4-0 win over Lake-Lehman.
The result came thanks to Cody Quaglia's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Noah Hummel, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one double.
Elk Lake pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Holy Redeemer, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
Both Elk Lake and Holy Redeemer just can't seem to miss. The Warriors have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Holy Redeemer struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
