The St. John's Catholic Prep Vikings were the 59-44 winner over the Severn School Admirals when they last played one another back in January of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. St. John's Catholic Prep took a 61-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Severn School on Friday. St. John's Catholic Prep has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nadia Ferguson, who scored 29 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ferguson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cayenne Pigeon, who scored 16 points.
Severn School's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was VALERIE WAUGH, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. It was the first time this season that WAUGH scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of AMYAH HEYLIGER, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds.
St. John's Catholic Prep's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Severn School, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
St. John's Catholic Prep won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Shabach Christian Academy Blue at 1:30 p.m. on February 10th. Shabach Christian Academy Blue will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something St. John's Catholic Prep surely won't give up without a fight. Severn School does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
